ann arbor (part II)

On Saturday, we slept in a little, caught the shuttle (which was so slick!) to Michigan Stadium and got ready to see Michigan play! But first we walked up to Big Ten Burrito and grabbed lunch before the game. We sat down and ate on the bleachers where the band practices.Watching the band before the game. (It's an "M")
Matthew was like, "honey, get your camera out. you've got to get a picture of what they do at the end." So...this is what they do at the end of pre-game....just so you know.
Then, they hold up a banner that says, GO BLUE, and the players/coaches/etc. run onto the field and jump up and touch it. Maybe for good luck? (ah, but it didn't work Saturday if that's the case!)
In our seats and ready for the game with 108,541 other fans. (Yes, you read that right!)
Our half-time snack...popcorn and Diet Coke! The best part? We got to keep the cup!!!
The view of the stadium from our seats. Pretty intense!!!
I was so happy we got to go to a game this year. It really made Matthew's football season. He LOVED being back in Michigan Stadium. Just look at his face!!!
The huge scoreboard!!! (with the number of fans in attendance)
One of the last touchdowns they scored...unfortunately, it didn't get them a win.
Outside of the stadium by the huge sign!
(Sidenote: If you think tailgaiting at K-State or KU is crazy and fun...you should see some of the tailgates at Michigan. They are hard-core. They make banners...with how many years their family has been tailgating there....and quite the spreads, tents, decor, insanely fancy RV's with ovens, wine racks, and grills. Seriously...there's some money there.)
After the game, Matthew picked one of his favorite restaurants to eat dinner...we had to wait for a little while but he loves the sushi here.
Not sure I was so successful with chopsticks. Hey, I tried.
Matthew, on the other hand, is very good at eating with chopsticks! He loved the sushi!
Our next stop of the evening was for ice cream at Stucchi's (delicious!) and then we met Crystal & Brian (M's friends) at Charley's for a drink. This is one of M's favorite bars from college (especially with the shot list and Jamaican long island iced teas)! We then played Wii for a while and crashed for Sunday!

Glad you enjoyed Matthew's birthday present. Too bad Michigan lost, but at least it sounded like you had a wonderful time anyway. The Michigan band is amazing...I remember seeing them at the Rose Bowl. Love you guys!!
