front bedroom redo.

I decided to work on our front guest room and do some painting!

BEFORE
Sadly, this is the only before pic I've found.  It was a greyish bluish greenish color.

AFTER
We also hung a painting that Matthew really loves from his grandparent's house.

A new dresser my mom and I found at an antique store.  I love it!

new front door!

Matthew found a new storm door at Lowe's on clearance so we snatched that up quickly!  So one Saturday, we decided to go ahead and put on a new front door and the storm door.  Well we didn't get started until later in the day so we only got the front door on that night.  Turns out, we had to go back and take it completely off again and re-install it as it wasn't shutting correctly.

The door is finally on and working correctly!  YAY!  Then we got to work putting on the new storm door.  This was relatively easy!

We really like it!

gardening.

We have spent some time updating our garden and landscaping this spring!
I planted some hyacinth and boxwoods in the front.
I planted some hanging baskets, too.

Meanwhile, Matthew and Hudson worked in his garden making a defined section and laying mulch.

Updated pictures of the garden growing coming soon!

just a little house work.

Matthew did some patching of our foundation wall.
Hudson was sure to help as he dug down 3 feet.  That's quite a long ways!
Home ownership is so fun!

new rug.

Hudson is basically in love with our new rug.  We thought it was hilarious that he spread out all of his toys on it shortly after we put it down.  Love him!

it's sprouting!

Last night, we finally saw grass coming up!  I wish I would've captured the excitement on Matthew's face.

the watering man.

We invested in some sprinklers, hoses, and some strategic watering skills to hit the parts of the yard where we laid grass seed and fertilizer.  Here is the expert setting up our sprinklers to water...
 Grow, seeds, grow!!!

some garden progress.

It's been a busy place of planting, watering, laying mulch, and watering some more (especially those grass seeds...we're praying they really grow!)...

Hopefully everything I touched will live...sometimes, that's not always the case.  But so far, so good!

more yard work.

We've been working to clean out the backyard, the flower beds, and all of the lovely landscaping we were left with!

Matthew loaded up a bunch of brush from the backyard on his day off and took it to the yard recycling place.
Can you find Matthew???

I did get out of the truck to help him - it was a lot to unload!
Then, we went to buy a few bushes and flowers to plant.  My mom was a great help picking out things that might work well!
A blank slate!
Still more to work on but it's a start!  We added some impatients (which something may be eating!) and transplanted some of our thousand peony and hosta bushes.  We're still needing to move some plants from the back to the front beds and we can't wait to get everything in its spot.
Today, Matthew tilled the ground so we can plant our grass seed.  We cannot wait to have more grass in our backyard, instead of soooo many plants!
This poocher LOVES that we are doing so much yard work because he is outside ALL the time with us!
