chalkboard paint project.

So I've been on a conquest to find a mirror to transform for above our bed.  I found one on Craigslist and my mom went with me to pick it up!
My mission:  chalkboard paint!
I love how it turned out and I love that I can change the sayings on it every once in a while!

craft day again!

We spent another Saturday making crafts!
It's always nice to sit down and relax and sew away....
Miss B was being a little camera shy.
But she LOVED the material I was making a blanket out of for her baby sister.

The guys hung out and watched football.  So sad K-State lost though...

latest craft project...

A casserole carrier...

This one I gave to a friend for her bridal shower but I've also made a couple more.  I've always wanted one that would hold our 9x13 Pyrex casserole dishes and I saw a tutorial and got busy.  I love them!

spring wreath.

I told myself I was too busy to making anything for a while but when looking at our front door, I know I need to make a wreath that was bright and cheery for spring!
I'm so glad it turned out the way I was hoping!
I LOVE IT!

crafts.

Since we've moved into our house, I've had my craft and sewings thing piled in a closet, on the floor, and throughout.  I created my own little space in our office!  Now, hopefully I will have the opportunity to use it often....especially to catch up on those scrapbooks of mine.

sewing!

Remember this stack of fabric?
Some of it was turned into baby burp cloths, some into drapes, some into my craft table and some into....

Pillows!
There are two more pillows to make...and they match the orange in the first pillow!

snow day sewing and then some.

There have been a few projects I've been wanting to work on and with the snow days, it was the perfect time...
I hadn't had my sewing machine out since way before we moved from PA so it was nice to see it again and remember how to work it.  Ha!
 Lots of ideas...lots of fabric.
Hudson had to keep a close eye...
My mom came over to help me make some pillow covers and she's also working on an apron for me for my birthday.
This precious little girl and her mommy stopped by for a visit.  Blakely wanted to play with all the scraps!
One project finished...new valences in our office/craft room.
And some baby burp cloths for a baby boy...
 and a baby girl.
Hopefully, we'll soon be finished with the pillow covers (1 down, 4ish to go...) and I'm also working on creating a craft table.  Can't wait!

happy 2011.

I adorned our front door with a new wreath I made. Love it!
But it sure was tedious to make, cutting all the circles.

twig frame.

Saw this idea and of course, I wanted to make one. It only cost about $10 with the frame and twigs from Hobby Lobby. I think I'm going to hang it in our bathroom as we don't have anything in there yet! We'll see how it looks!

wreath. (tutorial added)

A new wreath I made for our front door. I saw this idea on a blog, and decided to make one! I like it. They even showed it with different items attached to the middle of the raffia bow.

wreath info:
I started by getting burlap (I think I got a yard) and cut into strips to wrap around a styrofoam wreath.
Then, I cut strips and made little rosettes by wrapping the ends around each other and hot glued every once in a while so it stuck together until all of the fabric was used. Then I hot glued them all onto the wreath.
So it looked like this...
Then I added a raffia bow.
And finally, added some acorns I from our yard!

more wreaths.

Mary, my mother-in-law needed a couple of wreaths so I got busy making them on Saturday night. Even though they came to have dinner on Saturday evening and pick up her birthday present, I couldn't get them finished before they left that night. So Matthew and I went to church in Ottawa on Sunday morning. We got to hear our interim campus pastor from K-State Wesley preach as he's filling in for a while at the church Matthew grew up in and his parents still attend...small, small world! We also enjoyed some Mexican for lunch with Matthew's parents!

Anyway, here are the two wreaths - a baby one and then a "fall" one. A few Christmas ones will be coming up next!

baby fabric wreath.

This is the wreath for my friend who is having a baby girl any day! I will fill in the details on the back when she arrives!

fabric wreath. part two.

I love making these! I already made two more - one for my classroom and one for a friend who is having a baby in the next few weeks! I'll show those when I finish them completely.
Basically you cut fabric into strips - I used five fabrics on this with 1/4 of a yard each. They were cut at least 6" to 9" long and about 1" wide. Then you start tying them on the wire wreath (found in the floral section of Hobby Lobby - love that store!). I usually stagger them as a I tie them so they don't end up in a row.
And you just keep tying. The fuller you want it to look, the more fabric strips to use.
And then you have your finished product! This is for Miss B's (our niece) 1st birthday party. Cherry-themed! It's going to be super fun!!!

fabric wreath.

Love these fabric wreaths! I made one for our niece Lucy when she was born and now, I made one for my niece, Blakely's 1st birthday party. It's hard to see but it's black gingham, pink gingham, red polka dots, black polka dots, and green polka dots. My sister and I are going to hang a neat little 'welcome' or such in the middle for the front door to greet the guests.

is it spring yet?

I made this wreath with some decorative apples I had laying around (plus I picked up a few more from my favorite craft store). I look forward to spring and then someday again having a front door to hang it up on!

fabric wreath.

I've completely been in the crafty mood. I saw this idea and thought it was adorable.
I wrapped Christmas fabric (on sale for $1.99/yd at JoAnn) around a styrofoam wreath model. For $5.07, I sure do like it!

blessing ring.

My latest craft project! I made a blessing ring for Blakely. Basically, it's a ring that you can put all of her cards from showers, birth, baptism, etc. on.
You just hole punch the cards and string them on! Pretty easy and then let the ribbon fall between the cards to make it look pretty. Then you can hang it on a doorknob, wall, or anywhere. And seriously, how could you not want to spoil this little girl?!
