happy love day.

Our Valentine's Day was pretty low key which is nice.  Matthew got a new toy!  I got some beautiful flowers delivered at school.

We grabbed a slice of pizza at D'Bronx for dinner and ended our evening by going to see a movie and enjoying some popcorn!

valentine's day through the years...

 2007
Matthew was in Chicago.  I'm pretty sure we celebrated Valentine's Day before he left.  I gave him a guitar (you should ask him about it!) and he gave me an emerald necklace.  He flew back for my sorority formal the weekend after Valentine's Day!  Little did we know, we were falling madly in love.  Or maybe the fact that it was so hard for him to leave for Chicago (only after 3 months of dating) was our first clue!

2008

We were engaged and getting married exactly 4 months from this day!  He gave me another necklace...are you noticing a theme?  :)  I think I gave him Dremel tool and this puffy vest.

2009

(just have to include this picture...Hudson wanted to be in our happy valentine's day pic)
We lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and we celebrated by going to dinner at Max & Erma's.  This year, we did small gifts...I got a lovely bouquet of roses and Matthew got chocolate strawberries (he shared!).

2010

We were back in Kansas City!  We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Nick and Jake's.  That lovely bouquet of flowers showed up and Matthew and I took off for the weekend in Omaha to see a Michigan hockey game.

Our Valentine's Day was nothing extraordinary this year.  But the time devoted with each other is always special!  One of the best parts...he brought flowers home at lunch time so they would be right there when I walked in the door from work.  Very sweet!  We enjoyed dinner at Granite City (a special place for us...where our journey to marriage began in a way....) and then had some fro yo at Peachwave.

valentine's day goodies.

I love baking.  Really, when I have time and the goodies to make people for, I enjoy it.  And even more so, when Matthew does the dishes from my mess!
I spent time on Saturday and Sunday making some goodies for our small group on Sunday before Valentine's Day and then some for Matthew to take to work and pass out a few others....
Strawberry lemonade cupcakes, red velvet cream sandwiches, and monster cookies

And the best part...Matthew cleaned out the sink and did all of the dishes.
Love that man!  He is so good to me.

A Wonderful Weekend

My mom and sister came to visit us this past weekend! We had a blast...baby shopping for Blakely (my niece that will be making her entrance in July!) and spending time together and going to see Confessions of a Shopaholic!

We ventured to the outlet mall to The Children's Place, Baby Gap, Old Navy, Hartstrings, Gymboree, Carter's, and Strasburg Children. And we also stopped in Banana Republic and Gap for us! A stop was also made at Babies 'R' Us to check out strollers, carseats, and other fun gadgets and accessories for the little girl. Matthew decided to say home with Hudson while we were out and about. I can't imagine why!!!

Hudson insisted on checking out all of the packages when we got home!

Blakey's adorable baby clothes. We bought flowers, houndstooth, bright stripes, polka dots, hearts, plaid, corduroy, and so many other cute things! I can imagine if Kari were having a boy we would not have bought so much. But really, they were a-m-a-z-i-n-g deals!!! (Don't worry, Neal!) Matthew and I got her the striped tank top and polka dotted pants you see in the picture for when she is toddling around next summer!

I got this a while ago for her to wear. She'll definitely know I love her!

Hudson was just exhausted after hearing about our day.

He decided he needed a cold one to relax.
(Or maybe we're thinking that Neal will want one after he sees what we bought his little girl!)

Nonetheless, it was a FABULOUS weekend.

I love my mom and sister dearly and already miss them! Can't wait to see you both again real soon...maybe in March, April, May, and June/July! And then we'll have another little girl to add to our get togethers.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Matthew and I celebrated Valentine's Day on Friday (because we were having visitors!). Although, we didn't do much for the holiday, we enjoyed spending a nice evening together!
I came home to these beautiful red roses.Matthew discovered that I'd left him a Valentine's Day treat in the refrigerator at lunch time.
Chocolate covered strawberries...delicious!Matthew was even so thoughtful as to get my mom, sister, and baby Blakely a pink rose for Valentine's Day. What a sweetie! We attempted to get our picture...Hudson was not having it and just wanted us to play with him (as you can see in the picture.) We think it's hilarious! We enjoyed a yummy dinner at Max & Erma's, then headed to Barnes & Noble, looked around, grabbed a chai tea and some cheesecake before heading to the airport to pick up my mom and sister. Then, before going to bed, we shared our cards with each other. It was a lovely day!

a love note from the 'Rolla

This came in the mail for Matthew a few days ago from a place in Chicago where he had his car serviced. We laughed and laughed!

Matthew,
Our love began with a glance across a parking lot.
You possess me in just a few days.
I remember long drives through the countryside,
And long weekend getaways.

But the years passed, and like upholstery in the hot sun,
Your love began to fade.
And now in a time when I need your care the most,
You hit the blinker and turn away.

And while our gas tank of love may be running on fumes,
I still have plenty of love to share.
So if you have a quart of tenderness left for me in your heart,
Take me back to Firestone Complete Auto Care.

Love,
Your 1999 Corolla CE
